I'm wondering if there is a certain age group this is aimed at. The writing is beautiful.
The focus age group would be Young Adult, but it has such depth that adults are going to enjoy it as well. A teen is going to get one level while an adult will see more. I strongly recommend it for teens as it speaks to that universal angst and pain that is prevalent among them. There are these Lost Children in the tale who are drawn to the witch. She feeds their sense of apathy and worthlessness, their belief that no one loves them and that they are never good enough, turning them into her pet ticking time bombs. Some very heavy stuff athat I know teens are going to pick up on.
